What was that I was saying about wanting to run before I can walk? I am already storing up a library of knitting patterns that I want to try (in my Ravelry queue – haha!).
There’s the aforementioned gloves:

A sweater, à la Tasia from Sewaholic‘s:
A cowl scarf – if Lladybird can make it as a beginner project, so can I… right?
And now this elegant vintage cardigan posted over at zilredloh.com:

Back in reality, I have mastered the knit stitch. Purl is still eluding me, however.

Definitely start with the cowl scarf – won’t require any shaping or anything so can’t likely go too wrong and won’t take long to make either (depending of course on how much time you spend knitting!). I would have said that in order of difficulty, next would come the sweater, then the cardigan, only because shaping clothes on a nice, macroscopic, arms and waists scale is probably a bit easier than doing the same things on a fingers and thumbs scale…! That said I’ve never tried to make gloves. They might not be so bad…!! I’m glad you’re getting so excited about this :). I will add you – I’m poshjenny (I think) and I need to get into actually using ravelry mroe rather than going on quite frequently and searching for patterns which I never then remember to add to my queue…!
the vintage cardigan is beautiful.
